I thought I would give it some time before reviewing my new car so I could fully understand the technology that I didn’t have on my Nissan.

Consumer Reports (CR) is working to standardize terms so that consumers can be certain about what they’re buying.

• Nissan Qashqai and VW ID.5 achieve ‘very good’ ratings in latest Euro NCAP Assisted Driving gradings
• Polestar 2 upgrades its Pilot Assist system via an Over-the-Air update to improve its steering support, which takes its rating from ‘moderate’ to ‘good’
• Entry’ rating for the Jaguar I-Pace which delivers the essentials for assisted driving but lacks more advanced features
• Thatcham Research encourages drivers to reap safety and comfort benefits of ‘driver assist’ systems

The world’s first automated driverless parking function has been officially approved for commercial use, with Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority green-lighting the Mercedes-Benz / Bosch automated parking system in a parking garage at Stuttgart Airport.

GSR2 is an umbrella term for a group of regulations, split into the following categories:

• Restraint systems, crash testing, fuel system integrity, HV electrical safety
• Vulnerable road users, vision and visibility
• Vehicle chassis, braking, tyres and steering

The partners aim to enhance the testing capabilities of both the organisations by allowing them to utilise the equipment’s and offer the required support & services to the automotive industry for testing and validation.

• Steve Boyle, a supporter of Road Safe Technology for the Safer Systems, joins Think Tank.
• Professor Nick Reed to run a series of webinars and supported by Bosch, the remainder of the six-part series will run throughout the autumn of 2022. 

• Legally prescribed oversteer capability can be problematic
• Standardization of system designs urgently needs to be discussed
• Deviations from the “standard” reduce the performance of the systems
